“ইগনোরেন্সিয়া জুরি নন এক্সকিউজা” অর্থাৎ এর মানে হলো অপরাধ করে তারপর আদালতের কাছে যেয়ে যদি বলেন, এটা অপরাধ হয়েছে সেটা আপনি জানতেন না! তখন এ কথা বলে বা আইনের না জানার কারণ দেখিয়ে আপনি আপনার দ্বারা কৃত অপরাধের শাস্তি থেকে কোনভাবেই ছাড় পাবেন না। অর্থাৎ রাষ্ট্র এটা ধরে নেয় যে, উক্ত বিষয়ের সংশ্লিষ্ট আইনটি সম্পর্কে নাগরিকরা আগে থেকেই জানেন । এজন্যই আমাদের জীবনের সাথে যুক্ত দৈনন্দিন সাধারণ আইন গুলো আমাদের জানা উচিত। আমাদের স্বাভাবিক জীবন যাপনের জন্যে আইন জানার প্রয়োজন কতটা এখানে নিহিত রয়েছে। আমরা আইন যদি নাই জানি তবে আইনের নিরাপত্তা বিধান কিভাবে হবে আমাদের দ্বারা ? আপনি অপরাধ করছেন কিন্তু আপনি যদি আদালতের যেয়ে কাছে বলেন, এটা যে একটা অপরাধ সেটা আপনি কখনোই জানতেন না! এ কথা বলে বা আইনের অজ্ঞতার কারণ দেখিয়ে আপনি আপনার দ্বারা কৃত অপরাধের শাস্তি থেকে কখনোই ছাড় পাবেন না। অর্থাৎ এখান থেকে বুঝা যায় যে রাষ্ট্র ধরেই নেয় যে, সংশ্লিষ্ট আইনটি(যে ধরণের অপরাধ সেই আইন) সম্পর্কে নাগরিকরা জানেন এবং মানেন । বাস্তবে যদিও আমরা মানুষ আইন সচেতন না এবং আইন সম্পর্কে খুব একটা ধারণা রাখেন না বা রাখার চেষ্টাও করি না । একজন সচেতন নাগরিক হিসেবে আমাদের নিজেকে গড়ে তুলতে হলে আইন জানাটা অতীব জরুরী একটা কাজ আমাদের জীবনে । তাই আমরা সবাই আইন জানবো এবং নিরাপদ থাকুন।
আমাদের বাংলাদেশে ‘আইনের ফাঁকফোকর’ শব্দটি একটি প্রথম থেকেই প্রবাদে পরিণত হয়েছে৷ আইনের ফাঁক গলিয়ে এ দেশে অপরাধীরা ছাড়া পেয়ে যায় বলে অভিযোগ আছে সবসমই তাই আমাদের সাধারণ জীবন যাপনের জন্যে হলেও বাংলাদেশের সকল আইন কানুন জানা খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ৷ অনেক অভিযোগ আছে বিনা বিচারে, বিনা অপরাধে জেল খাটারও ৷ তাহলে আমাদের সমস্যাটা কোথায়?
